Well I just got my Verizon FIOS tv and internet installed today.  I’ve had Comcast cable for over 5 years now and I’ve been happy with their service.  But for the quality and price that I’m getting from Verizon FIOS, this was a no-brainer for me.  HDTV from FIOS has over 20 channels including the NFL network.  It is also broadcast in 1080p and unfortunately I haven’t upgraded to a 1080p.  I have my old Pansonic 720 for over 7 years now and the tv works great.  I keep on telling Dottie that we need a new TV but we really don’t because this works just fine.  So detail wise, the both HDTV channels through Verizon and Comcast look equally good but the difference is in the speed.  I don’t have that lag when I change channels, which is between every commercial, that I had with Comcast.  The channels zip through with lightning speed.  The internet is blazing fast, super fast.  I can definitely feel the difference because pages pop up instantly.  I definitely LOVE this service so far.  Verizon has definitely come a long way from changing it’s brand when it comes to customer service, so kudos to Verizon.  I remember when I didn’t particularly like Verizon so they’ve done a complete 180.  And to top it all off, I’m saving about $50 a month including phone service and the FIOS tv/internet quality is superior.  $50 month x 12 month x 5 years = $3000!  Wow I’m so happy that FIOS got installed here in my neighborhood.  It’s not in a lot of areas so plenty of folks will have to wait.  When I compare fiber optic to cable, it’s like comparing a Ferrari to a Ford.  The only caveat is that a backup power supply has to be installed in the home for the phone.  The tech had to drill from the outside where the terminal into the home, but the fiber phone line will work with it’s battery if the power goes out.  Funny thing is that if the power goes out, will I still be able to use my cordless phone?  Well, it really doesn’t matter to me either way because I’m am 100% satisfied with everything.  Great job Verizon!
